A sorrow New Years day was held yesterday. Besides the passing of our Dive Master David "Gunny" Fisher. His sister Joan Decker's house burned in an early evening fire, shortly after learning of the his passing, in the Town of Greenville. The family came home to the house engulfed in flames and Greenville FD arriving. Her family lost everything in the fire. It is with deep remorse the Sparrowbush Engine Company announces the passing of Fire Police Lieutenant William "Bill" Witzel. Bill has served the fire service community for over 40 years. He started his volunteer service in the Theills Fire Department (Rockland County) where he was a member for 37 years, in 2013 he joined SECO and became Fire Police Lieutenant in 2017. It is with deep remorse the Sparrowbush Fire District and Sparrowbush Engine Company announces the passing of 50+ year Life Member, Past Chief, Past Commissioner and Past Chairman of the Board of Fire Commissioners Charles Elmore. Chief Elmore also served the company as the Company Secretary and Fire Police Captain for 25+ years until his retirement in 2012. Chief Elmore went home to God on Saturday February 9th 2019. On Saturday April 14th 2018 at 2023hrs SECO units and Port Jervis Volunteer Ambulance Corps. was dispatched for a patient having a possible heart attack on Wilson Rd. OC911 advised responding units that CPR instructions were being given and CPR was being performed. Upon arrival of 41-1 and 3, it was confirmed that the patient was in cardiac arrest and CPR was in progress. Members of the FD and PJVAC continued CPR and set up an AED to defibrillate the patient.
